Whenever I talk to American educators, I find myself nodding and shaking my head in condolence of their common plight. I am also forever reading commentaries that carry the familiar theme of how the American education system is no longer in the hands of educators, but gifted in a series of grand experiments to politicians, economists, business leaders, religious organizations, advocacy groups... who all think they know best, or are at least prepared to do some tinkering. They act almost like a foreign power that has no real regard for their subjects. They want to hold the reins, but will never (nor care to) ride the horse.
Someone who rides that horse, and rides it well, needs to set off and shake things up before it's too late. American education needs someone to saddle up, set off and start the revolution. After reading Chris Lehmann's latest blog, I would like to think your Revere may have just left the stable. And like the Revere of old, he is very connected; maybe connected enough to rally the masses before it's too late. I have no idea whether Chris is keen to take on this role, but "Come the hour, come the man" or woman.
I want to scream at these folks... I want to shake them up. I want ...
Who do you think ought to lead this revolution? Vote now.
