Yesterday, I hadn't even heard of Johnny Lee, now I'm one of his growing number of fans. Johnny has a
website with some great ideas for educators.
What caught my attention was this
$99 Smartboard video. I had been thinking that a tablet bluetoothed to a data projector was the only viable poor-man's (educator's) solution to a smartboard. Being a New Zealander of Scottish descent (short arms - long pockets), you can imagine I did more than a few virtual cartwheels. After all, in New Zealand we say, "You can fix anything with a piece of number 8 wire,"; this adage however, has been seriously tested in the digital age.
I must also admit, with some glee, this idea, together with many other recent developments in the Edtech world (opensource software, opencourse education, webapps, Google Suite...), is finally beginning to "stick it" to the education profiteers and give back to learning environments.
It appears Edutopia has gotten a little closer. So get out there and buy your Wii remotes before other schools (and businesses) scoop them all.
